This 80cm x 80cm (32" x 32") coffee table is made from recycled railroad sleeper ties and other recycled wood pieces. The tabletop is semi-level, but does feature uneven patches of wood. The table is incredibly dense, strong, and solid.
The railroad ties were laid across Indonesia in the early 18th-19th century and made of ironwood. The railroad ties were not treated, as they were in the USA. As the old railroad ties are removed and replaced with concrete, the old ties are commonly used for furniture production. This table features a brass plaque. This table looks good indoors or outdoors. For over 200 years, this wood carried trains and other goods across Indonesia. The next 200 years will likely carry a softer load.
The table weight is ~120lbs and the legs ship unassembled. Some assemble required. The fixed shipping cost is $79.
The sleepers and old homes built across Indonesia were typically built of available wood in that region (at that time). Some areas had a large availability of teak while other areas had ironwood.
The tables can have mortised-tendon signs, peg holes, and other signs of previous use. Some of the wood may contain remnants of old home construction - typically in the leg.
Also, look for various side tables made in the matching theme.
WARNING: As this product is made from recycled wood, the exact composition is uncertain. We believe our statements to be accurate.
